Parent Involvement at City Honors School

As a public school, parent involvement plays a vital role in the success of our students and faculty.  A trinity of organizations with strong parent involvement helps to bolster CHS is three very distinct ways:

  • PTSCO (Parent, Teacher, Student, Community Organization) helps to build bonds among CHS families and students, providing advocay for the school and fundraises to benefit year-to-year instructional and extracurricular needs.
  • SBMT (School Based Management Team) includes representatives from each of the school stakeholder groups which seek broad-based agreement on activities, practices or policies that significantly impact and improve student achievement.  The SBMT is also the group that must ultimately sign off on and submit the annual New York State-required Comprehensive Education Plan (CEP) for our school.
  • CH/FMP Foundation (City Honors/Fosdick-Masten Park Foundation) works to provide larger capital and programmatic investments to ensure that the quality of educational experience for students is not affected by fluctuations in state or district funding.  The Foundation also works toward guranteeing all students have equal access to academic, and enrichment opportunities regardless of economic status.
