City Honors students worked collaboratively with faculty and the school administration to come up with what they thought would be the best way to exhibit solidarity with the Parkland victims and survivors.

Over 850 students chose to mark the one-month anniversary by either walking around the campus in silence for 17 minutes (Grades 9-12) or standing silently in the hallways for 17 minutes (Grades 5-8). Once that time was up, they came back into their classrooms and continued to learn.
This is not the end of our students’ actions to protest gun violence. They are currently working on educational and advocacy activities for April 20th, the 19th Anniversary of Columbine.
