Fall 2024 Student Placement Testing
The Buffalo Public Schools have mailed home information to all families of students in grades 4, 6 and 8 regarding participation in placement testing for City Honors School and the Olmsted Middle High School. Please follow this link for more information.
The City Honors/Olmsted test will also be available on the following three Saturdays for students coming from private and charter schools or unable to attend the testing at their current BPS school:
Fall 2024 Saturday Testing Dates (for Fall 2025 admission to CHS)
October 19, 2024 (application deadline: October 11, 2024)
November 2, 2024 (application deadline: October 25, 2024)
November 23, 2024 (application deadline: November 15, 2024)
- All Saturday Testing this year will take place at City Honors School, 186 E. North Street.
- Click here to download the Application for Saturday testing. The application is also available from BPS Central Registration at 33 Ash Street.
- All applications must be submitted in person to the Central Registration Building, at 33 Ash Street by 3:30 pm as per deadlines listed above.

General Information on Placement at City Honors
Placement of students to our magnet school setting is not managed at the school level and is fully and completely managed by the Buffalo Public Schools. For questions, please call the BPS Student Placement and Registration Office at 716-816-3717 or visit the website of the BPS Student Placement and Registration Office.
Please be aware, on February 15, 2017, former Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kriner Cash, issued this resolution adjusting the order of students who will be placed at City Honors and Olmsted Schools.

STARS (STudents with Autism Rising to Success) Program Placement Information
Families interested in the STARS Programs (Students with Autism Rising to Success) at City Honors, Olmsted or the Arts Academy, should contact the Buffalo Public School Special Education Placement Office at 816.4746.
Residency Requirement
Please note that the Buffalo Public Schools require residency in the city of Buffalo for your child to participate/sit for the admissions test. Charter and private school families must provide evidence to verify they are residents of the city.
