Student Placement Testing for the 2025-2026 school year has concluded.
The Buffalo Public Schools have mailed home information to all families of students in grades 4, 6 and 8 regarding participation in placement testing for City Honors School and the Olmsted Middle High School. Please follow this link for more information.
The City Honors/Olmsted test will also be available on the following three Saturdays for students coming from private and charter schools or unable to attend the testing at their current BPS school:
Fall 2024 Saturday Testing Dates (for Fall 2025 admission to CHS)
October 19, 2024 (application deadline: October 11, 2024)
November 2, 2024 (application deadline: October 25, 2024)
November 23, 2024 (application deadline: November 15, 2024)

Placement of students to our magnet school setting is not managed at the school level and is fully and completely managed by the Buffalo Public Schools. Please be aware, on February 15, 2017, former Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kriner Cash, issued this resolution adjusting the order of students who will be placed at City Honors and Olmsted Schools.

Please note that the Buffalo Public Schools require residency in the city of Buffalo for your child to participate/sit for the admissions test. Charter and private school families must provide evidence to verify they are residents of the city.
